Sign-ups will be on East Erie Street bewtween South Depeyster St. and Haymaker Pkwy. 

We ask that all park downtown or in the Parta Parking Deck (parking deck free on validation, 201 E. Erie St.) in Kent, Ohio 44240.

Sign ups will be at 8AM. please come early to get Parked and signed in well before 9AM (or near that), we will begin our ceremonies:

Ruck Begins

Bring your Own Ruck with Your own specified weight.

(many plan to add weight by adding items for the APL, such as dog bones, play toys, cat or dog food, etc.)

 

The Hero’s Ruck for this year will start in downtown Kent, and go through Kent State University using the Lester A Lefton Esplanade. There will be 2 stops the first stop will be at the Student Center approximately .84 miles,
and the second and last stop will be at Dix Stadium which is 2.74 miles from the starting point.
There is parking downtown, most areas are free parking,  the streets on the weekend is free, but need to walk to the starting point.
The PARTA Parking Deck is free if you get a validation ticket at the check-in table.
Check-in will be at E. Erie St. between S Depeyster and Haymaker Pkwy. 
Parta Parking Deck is right next to our start point, but costs maximum for the day of $5.
Each spot, and along the route, will have PARTA buses that can bring you back downtown for free (for animal-free or service dogs).
We have transportation, for folks with a companion animals, at the Student Center and Dix Stadium (only).
for free lunch (for paid Ruckers), as well as door prizes.

All proceeds raised will go toward giving any veteran or first responder a companion pet for free from the Portage APL.

All he or she must do is give a copy of their DD-214 as honorably served

or first responders show a badge (paperwork) with the appropriate city and unit served.

Each dog or cat will be vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and chipped.

Dependent on the funds available, some dogs can be trained for specific purposes.
